Time travel has been in people's minds for a long time. But the possibility is not possible. Look, if it were, it would create such a changed world, nothing would be normal. For example, if a man came back to the prehistoric time era and steped on a butterfly, the the butterfly would not mate.(As is would) And generations of them would not go where they would. They would not be eaten by the correct creatures, and thus creating a chain of changed events.
Another thing to think about is that if our "Future" had created a time machine, they would have came back to our time or earlier. Therefore, we have not seen futuristic people. There has not been any time machine created now, nor in the future.

A little help for you as to why no legitimate organization is studying what you call time travel: if you moved ahead one minute, in that minute the solar system would have moved 18000 km. Space is cold. Legitimate scientists are trying to make things go faster, and that will lead to a type of 'time travel'. Just moving in time would require incredible velocities in space. Not happening yet, except in sci-fi.
