It means that the people ("you and I") are meant to be together. Its saying that the whole world was made for them to be together.

If you look at the official lyrics from the FFF website the chorus always ends "You and I..." I think the other answers are certainly plausible that he is answering the riddle saying the reason for the world is you and I. Or maybe he is truly saying find the answer - the reason is "You and I..." and you are to fill in the blank. The open-ended "answer" leads me to believe that maybe that is not a finished statement but that the riddle we have to answer is that "you and I" or collectively "us" are here for.... and then we have to go find out. In other words we find the answer by filling in the blank as we go through life. I don't know, it's just a thought.

That You and I are the reasons that the world is continuing, their is a great big world at our finger tips but it wouldn't make any difference if it weren't for us. Instead of looking for a reason for the things that go on around us we need to enjoy the love that goes on around us and except ourselves as the reason for the world and let that be enough.
