When you try to tell her an answer to something, or hint that she is wrong she says 'OHHH YEAH?!" or "YOU WANT A BET?" why do old people act this way? She also says that The Lord Jesus cannot communicate to people in the mind. My sister in law claims the Lord gives her predictions. My granny insists that we have to attend her church so people will know us and she can show us off. My husband and I attend another church. What makes her like this? She is also very stupid.

Well without her, you wouldn't be you. I say to let her be the way she is. Thats the most respectful thing you can do. In turn you be the way you want to be. Attend your own church. Don't be shown off if you don't want to be. If you think she's wrong then proove she's wrong. have an excyclopiedia ready or something to get your source from. Even the internet. print it out and stick it in her face. And say "Give me 50$" [optional]. And not all old people are like this. I know some very cool ones. And in my opinion they have right to be stupid, or trippen, or lazy, or senile. They have seen and done way more then we younger generations have.

I'm afraid you can't MAKE her not be stuck up. No matter what you do she'll act the same. This is just a guess but maybe since she's getting old she wants to live a life that suits HER best. That's probably why she likes to act stuck up and like she's never wrong. Also, one thing I know is that some old people don't like to be talked down to as though they are children. Maybe people treat her like that and this is her way of getting back at people? I don't know.

You can not change her. I know you've heard the saying, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." My grandmother is quite the sturbborn, grouchy German lady. However, now that I think about it, I have seen a few changes in her as I go through certain things in life. Don't give up hope. Try to lead by example, that's the best way. And try to concentrate on her positive attributes.

My grandmother is very set in her ways and there is not much hope of changing her either. She is a bigot, racist and prejudiced and doesn't care who she hurts in the process, including my mother, my cousin and her husband, my aunt, and myself. There is not much you can do about her being old. They won't change, all you can do is shake your head in disbelief, and love them to the best of your abilities, even if that means from a distance.

She will never change. She will always act like that. The only thing you can do is to just realize that this is the way she is.

Just brush her off because there is no way you can change her.
Also make sure you have proof to go with your arguments or
beliefs. Make sure its legitimate proof. That'll shut her up.

Use the Bible that she loves as a weapon, the Bible teaches about humility, also let her know that Jesus who she loves was not stuck up, he was humble.
