I would say opposing illegal immigration doesn't (anything that it is illegal should be generally opposed, that is why the law passed in the first place) but opposing legal immigration does.
And how you present your opinion can make a big impact on how racist you sound.
Good Luck to you and to Grail Hunter.

I'm not a racist at all I'm white and my husband is black. But I do NOT want illegals in the US. I live in a VERY small town in Maryland on the Eastern Shore of the USofA. We are over run with illegal immigrants. They come here and work for next to nothing taking all of our jobs and running the town into the ground because they are nasty and dirty and live 20 to a 2 bedroom apartment and don't bathe often and don't clean their mess up and so on. I could go on and on but it's not just the mexican's that do this it's blacks and whites do too but my main issue is that they come here and want everything for nothing almost all of the mexicans here are on welfare and still making over 600 dollars a week when welfare limits are around 200 a week or less! They get paid cash under the table and lie and cheat their way thru life and take from the ones that really deserve it and make it IMPOSSIBLE for regular hard working families to find a decent home!

Opposing illegal immigration is not necessarily racist, it depends on why you oppose it. If you oppose it because you feel full citizens should get first crack at jobs, and that laws should be envforced evenly and fairly for all potential immigrants, that's not racist.

If you hate the dirty foreigners who take away flag-loving American's jobs, that's pretty racist, especially if you hate just the Canadians, but the Mexicans are OK. Or any other combination.

No, because there are immigrants who live here with albeit working or permenant visas green cards what ever. They pay taxes just us citizens. Although illegal immigrants are working jobs Americans won't if they want to work or live here they need to learn english and go through the process just like everyone else

Not even close. I tire of the arguments presented as if you are "un-Christlike" by resisting illegal immigration as if you are spurning ALL immigrants. They often point out that we are all immigrants (or descendents of them). While I agree, I must point out that the argument is not over immigration (which is still perfectly acceptable and legal), it is over the ILLEGAL immigration of non-citizens who purposely circumvent the correct procedures to enter the country. The system, while admittedly not perfect, is in place to control many aspects of population growth and control, including taxes and crime. It is the same system through which our immigrant ancestors went when they came to this great land.

NO!
I want our borders locked down. It's a safety issue.
But I don't want to keep out anyone who wants to come the US for a better life. We should revamp the Immigration process so that people can get in without waiting for years. This will help the folks who need it and keep out criminals and terrorists.
