Hmmm, since none of the previous answers seem to hit the mark, lemme give it a try.
China's stance on North Korea is best described as conflicting.
On the one hand, China is in agreement with the other parties in the Six Party talks when in comes to disarming North Korea. It's only logical that China wants stability in the Korean pennisula, since: A. it's in China's backyard and if a fire is started in your backyard, there's no guarantee that your house won't burn down; and B. China does a LOT of business with both South Korea and Japan, both of which are among the top ten trading partners of China. So on this count, China does not appreciate another provocation on the part of North Korea.
On the other hand, China cannot be as tough to North Korea as the U.S. or Japan. China is the biggest provider of food and fuel aid to North Korea, so many analysts here are saying that China can put more pressure on North Korea by threatening to cut off aid to them. However, this is not a real option, since according to the U.S. State Department, 2 million people in North Korea starved to death in the 1990s, and hundreds of thousands of North Koreans are already living illegally in China. If China cuts off aid to North Korea, it's just going to create more refugees and dead North Korean kids. -- Think of it this way, if there were a famine in Mexico and Mexico is also developing nukes at the same time, would you support sending food aid?
So China's stance can be summed up in one phrase -- condemnation without economic sanction.

Happy, of course. We knew that China and other leftist country exchanges or supplying nuke tech to the North. In fact, they were of the same feather (Communist), and in the event of war, they will assist one another against any nation or group of nations that will interfere with their affairs. Let us pray and hope that God will touch their minds and hearts that such obejctive of spreading fear all over the world through weapons of mass destruction will vanish and will become affectionate to humans.
