For people like you and me (the common public) I think it's almost impossible to know who are best ally is, or even if we have one at all. It's because of the aura of politics. Leaders often pat each other on the back and make public statements of supporting each other, but how much of this is for show and how much is authentic is hard to tell. Even if we reference Britain - Tony Blair is a vocal supporter of his step-brother George (we must be vigilent) Bush. But if you pole the English people I think you'll find a vast number, maybe even a majority, ready to tar and feather the both of them. If you listen to Bush, the whole world is our ally. If you read the news and note the acts and actions of some of 'our allies' , it becomes less convincing.

If it isn't Great Britain, I agree with Van Winkle. For all the hate the media portrays, I am afraid to travel outside of the country.
