I live near Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA. There are actually 2 rides that are great just depends on which style you like. Apollos Chariot is got this incredible drop right off from the start, plus you don't have the shoulder harness you only have a lap restraint if you don't pull it all the way tight you can actually feel like you are free floating. If you sit in the very front row the car doesn't have a large front so you see EVERYTHING, this is the ride where Fabio got hit in the nose by a flying duck.(which he forgot to do). The second ride is Alphengiest this one pulls up to 3 or 4 g's. it has alot of twists and turns and your legs are free floating. It is very fast and well worth the wait. I have season passes and these are my 2 favorite rides. There is also the Loch Ness Monster for those who really enjoy the old style roller coaster (approx 25 years old). If you ever get a chance to go to BG it is worth every penny.

Carowinds is the closet park to me, only about 2 hours. Top Gun is their tallest and fastest ride and it is an awesome smooth ride. On my Top 20 best coasters it comes in at #10.
