I think what awful parents to let a child get to a point where their health is at risk by lazy fat parents.
A little blunt, but I am being sincerely honest. Most children do not have to live a life of obesity. Its a wake-up call for society to give a **** about their health.

I think what a fat lazy kid, but the kids parents are to blame for feeding the kid too much and not making the kid go outdoors for exercise.
This genetic stuff may be partially true, but when I was a kid there were maybe 3 or 4 "fat kids" in the class of 1983 out of over 400. If it is all genetics why has the portion of fat kids increased?
The US diet is horrible. Instead of a feast on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas everyday portions are feast size and usually consist of unhealthy food. Kids spend too much time engaged in sedentary activities.
When I was young the life of the "Fat Kid" was hell. Kids were very cruel and made their life miserable. The flip side was that no-one wanted to be a fat kid. Social pressure kept the weight off so to speak. Today after much political correctness being fat has been made acceptable or at least not something to be completely ashamed of since the so called experts tell us it is out of the fat persons control. I believe that this loss of negative stigma is also a contributing factor in Americans expanding waist lines. Now that I've said that I am not advocating cruelty toward fat people I am just pointing out what I believe is one of the factors.

I think the parents should get there ***'s kicked for not providing a proper eating schedule with there kids. My children eat a lot and I mean a lot. My son has been out eating me since he was 2 years old. However, they are not fat because they eat the right things, they are outside playing all the time, we don't have cable tv and they can't use the computers or game systems when its nice out(bad weather means pooring cold rain and -5c). I really believe that it has to do with environment, genetics have a bit to do with it but not as much as people would like to believe. I come from an obese family its on both side however we manage to control it. Its time parents started to deal with there children instead of just feeding them to make them quiet. Go fishing, hiking, camping, swimming, take them to the park. If families spent more time together doing things then the obesity problem would become under control.

I think he eats to much junk food and doesn't get enough physical activity, and that the parents are at least partially at fault as well as the fast food culture that encourage overeating. There have always been some "lazy" kids and some fat kids around, but obesity is dangerously on the rise because kids today are being neglected. It's up to adults to make sure they get proper nutritious food, and to teach them better habits.

I think, "damn hippies are passing there lazyness on to the next generation by not takeing care of there childs needs proporly, or just using snacks to shut him up instead of being a parent and dealing with the problem." But in all fareness, this is because I am happily devorced from a lazy second generation hippy. I have custody of my son, and he is healthy, but her daughter by another man, is morbidly obessed and spoiled rotten in all the wrong ways.

It is so easy for someone to see someone elses child that is overwieght and think either he or she is lazy or its the parents fault for overfeeding of neglecting to feed the child good food. Being a mother myself I know that there are different reasons for children to be overwieght. You first have to realize that there are different reasons, thyroid, lack of activity, eating too much or it could be in the genes. problem is onlookers automatically blame the parents. I feed my son fruits and vegetables minimal snacking or sweets and my son is still chubby. He is built like his father who is built like his father and so on. My son is very active and very happy. Not everyone can be skinny or built with the perfect body, thats what makes us original. If it gets out of hand, then I would seek professional help.

LOL - Fattie fattie 2x4 . No seriously, i think it's disgusting.
I don't think everything is genetic. I think he might be more prone to it due to genetics but I think he's mostly picking up Mom and Dad's bad habits. Predominately environmental.
My bet is rolly-polly there has been eatting too much 'fatfood' and not doing enough pysical activitiy.
When did it become ok to have fat kids???? Our stupid society is making this ok when it's not. It's totally unhealthy.
The fact of the matter is that there are very few kids that would be fat if they ate correctly and exercised. So no, I don't feel sorry for them. It's something that they can control. Something that they can change....and if it's genetic/hormonal, then they can get medical help. The science is out there. You just have to help yourself. Hence being lazy...too lazy to help themselves. They just want to be victimized, so let them.
Shame on the parents.

I say the parents are to blame sometimes. If the parent is slim and the child is fat, then it's what the parents are feeding it. If both parents are pretty big then I just pray for the child because it is still what the parents are feeding it.

i think that their parents are negligent for allowing them to eat 1. junk food or 2. an excess of regular food and 3. i also assume that they aren't involved in any activities after school such as sports or clubs 4. that they get NO physical activity and then I blame the parents for being cruel. i can't bear to think of how difficult their lives must be.

I think that it's too bad that the parents aren't making sure that the kid is eating healthy and doing extra activity.
