you dont say why you have to wait other than you dad taking the dog. Your father probably has his mind made up in which the answer is to wait it out--it will go by quickly. Dogs and ferrets can get along and have a ball playing together with some supervision. I had two ferrets and two cats and they really enjoyed each other and are hilarious to watch. Ferrets DO have a slight odor and need bathed and they ahve shampoos that make them smell nice but DO empty the litter box everyday as the urine can produce a fairly strong unpleasant odor. I loved my ferrets but I was allergic to whatever the urine gave off. have fun with your ferrets no matter when you get them

ferrets r nothing but trouble and they stink also.
