Historically, It was Africans who first enslaved Africans. European captains went to certain regions of Africa because there was already an active slave trade established and it was easier to buy slaves and ship them over than to go out and capture them yourself. It also allowed the captains to justify their actions by saying that they were just buying someone who was already a slave instead of enslaving them themselves.

Personally, I have never "offended a black person". and historically, my family was one of those at the end of the underground railroad, helping escaped slaves into Halifax.

I think it's just awful, but there will always be some idiot who thinks he's better than everyone else and picks on someone he thinks is weaker.
