My beautiful and talented daughter decided that she would use my vinyl(plastic) floor as a canvas for her latest sharpie masterpiece. Does anyone know what will get this out?? I've already tried polish remover, oven cleaner, bam, and oxy clean.

Mineral spirits or Terpentine - available at your local Home Depot. Never use nail polish remover on Vinyl (or anything plastic) as it contains acetone and will melt it.

Go check the packages the sharpie markers are in at the store...i believe they are all indelible...meaning they won't come out. If this is the case, you might want to contact the company and see if they have any suggestions or experience with this before you use a product that could ruin your floor further.

I've been able to get sharpie markers off of some various materials by using sunscreen (apply a little) and rubbing it really hard (with a rag or paper towel). Try it, it has worked for me in my preschool classroom many times! Good luck!

Try a little bit of Comet. An abrasive cleaner is what is needed here. Put a little on a rag and rub it hard. That should do it. Make sure to rinse with water or the Comet will leave a dull shine.

Simple Green will take paint off a car if you leave it on overnight, but the problem with using any really strong chemical is that it's not only going to take off the sharpie it's going to take off the coating on your vinyl. Greased Lightning is another try, but only if it's sheet linoleum, not vinyl tiles (will eat the glue between the tiles). The good thing about the Simple Green if you want to try that one is that if you have pets it won't harm them if they lick/drink it. Sorry I couldn't help more!

I were given it off of my timber kitchen table with a Mr. sparkling Magic Eraser, even though it changed into in ordinary words a set of dots, I scrubbed it to lack of existence, and their ghosts are nevertheless seen and the end is honestly not as sleek. i'm residing with it on an previous espresso table that i do not a lot take care of besides. it really is not likely to get any worse, so if it gained't arise you may merely stay with it till you're prepared to sand it off and restain or take out some forums and replace them. you may discover that sanding very carefully eliminates the marker and the laquer yet not the colour, and perchance be able to in ordinary words upload some urethane to the spot to blend it in and safeguard it. although you do, undergo in ideas that toddler blood is way harder to get out...(that is a ill comic tale)

Trust me on this.

Go to the office supply store and get a pack of dry erase markers. The kind used to write on white boards in offices.

Rub one (any color) on the sharpie marks & wipe with a damp cloth. Something in the dry erase markers dissolves permanent marker.

You owe me!

Have you tried a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? I can't believe all the stuff that thing cleans, it couldn't hurt to try. If it doesn't work at least you can use it on other things that your daughter decides to decorate. :)

Sharpies usually aren't that permanent at all. I even have experienced sharpies coming off with sweat. Try the hair spray things or alcohol.
