I don't know how many people are making that mistake but any one who knows the Pledge of Allegiance should know we live in a republic also any one with a second grade education should know that as well.

The United States of America has never in its history been a Democracy. It is a Representative Republic, and it is called so because we elect people to speak for us in matters of lawmaking. If we were a democracy, there would be no House of Representatives or Senate; we would all have to vote on every single matter that currently comes before our Congress.

I think the concept of democracy within the United States as with many other nations (including my own) is an illusion... You only think of democracy via the opium speeches of, "freedom and liberty for all!" you feel you contribute to democracy because you do a thing called voting...the day after however... (even during actually) Money talks..bullshit walks!

Being able to write and ask and answer questions (without fear of reprisal) smacks just a bit of Democracy.
And by the way, your answer to the question regarding "only" 2,500 dead soldiers was really idiotic. The question was bad enough and you go ahead and do a rah, rah about our precious soldiers, sailors, marines, special forces having a low death count. These are people - not numbers.
