I've played drums (punk rock) for15 years. I've been asked to play in a start up, rockabilly band. I was wondering just how big the market for such a thing can really be. And what kinda labels are working with rockabilly groups and to what success. I'm kinda stressed about the whole gig 'cause I've got NO experiance playing this kinda music. Any tips? Thanx!

Don't listen to those people. There is somewhat of a rockabilly scene today. There's a new wave of rockabilly called psychobilly, which is a mix between rockabilly and punk rock. And, there are labels that will support that music. Hellcat Records has a few of these bands on their roster. I live in L.A., and there seems to be a pretty big psychobilly following here. I don't know how big it is in other areas, though. You never know what could happen...it could be the next big trend to hit mainstream radio.

Why would they ask a punk drummer to play rockabilly?
There are no labels ready to fund rockabilly bands. But local gigs are always popular.

You won't make it big in a rockabilly band. If it was the '50s you might.
