About time you actually opened your eyes. The idea is simple, corporations and the federal government work together (corporations fund the president's campaign, and if the president wins he returns the favor politically) to screw the American people. This is why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Capitalism is a highly unstable economic system, and an unbalance of power (like today's Bush administration) can make things worse in a country, which it has.

So, to answer your question, YES the rise of power has corrupted the ideal of capitalism. Oh and to point out, no country is ideally capitalistic. An ideal economic is a mix of other types of economies (capitalism, communism, etc.)

Corporations wouldn't exist if they didn't have customers and fill a need. For example, Western Union (telegraphs) no longer provides that obsolete world-wide service.

Don't like 'em? then look in a mirror...

What is the real culprit is stock speculators and derivative traders - I mean who else can make money without producing a product other than a sophisticated bet. And then there are leveraged buyout experts that eliminate jobs via mergers. These guys redistribute a company's wealth to a few lucky individuals at the top and the "investment bankers" and brokers who put these deals together. No real value added but lots of lost jobs.

Corporations have not destroyed capitalism, they are testaments to it. Capitalism is the drive to make money and succeed by any means possible. Before the government began getting involved, the control and corruption that corportations had was even greater.

A society can never work on pure capitalism (or Communisim) there need to be some government regulations or everybody loses except 10 CEO's

Corporations exemplify capitalism to the T. What did you think capitalism was?
The politicians are, for the most part, merely the agents (or put less politely, the mistresses) of the corps.
Welcome to the real world.

Capitalism is defeated when big corporations control the economy because they could dictate to the government what they want. With this predicament, small businesses collapsed because they became victims of the cartel of big corporations who have the power to destroy any entity that could pose a menace to their projects.

Yes it has. People are greedy, unfortunately. And that's really all there is to it.
