There are some really nice 16-18ft pontoons out there in that range.

lot of used boats would do a great job for you - make sure you check the title & insurance claim info to insure they haven't been flooded in recent storms. Also make sure you check the transportation costs.
I'd love to give you a better answer, but you're not telling us where you're trying to operate or for what purpose. In the ocean is differnet than a large open water lake, is different than a protected deep lake, from shallow, from rivers... are you going to be fishing, or cruising, or parking up in a cove... will you be storing at the lake or dropping at the ramp, how far you have to drive? Dif boats are designed for dif purposes & you may need a few options depending on what you intend to do. Anyway, there are a wealth of options. Many good ones on ebay. Tough to get a good price sometimes on places like boat trader. Just do your research & keep an eye out. Also, you'll get a much better price if you wait till the summer season is over (I find october is best).

Yes may-be you might consider a jet boat. Yamaha, seadoo challenger, these are great looking boats and they can hold up to 7 to 8 people .Also you guys can have a great time skiing, wake boarding ect. These boats come with a swim platform along with a sun pad. you can find one of these boat for under $10,000 excellent condition. Caution! make sure you always test ride the boats you look at . Or go with someone who knows about boats.

I have a Haines Hunter which I no longer use!.
Details: 5.2M 1/2 Cabin with new canopies / storm covers, 135 HP mercury outboard - goes like the wind. Very safe craft. Double bogy tarailer, spare wheel, electric winch, stereo system, new pedestal seating, all safety gear & many other extras.
It will be more than $10,000 but you would be getting a beaut boat that I have spent over $30,000 over the years.

for six people a nice bow rider should do. it's a day boat so you'll be pretty much restricted to activities during the day and won't be able to camp out. for a little more money, you can get a cabin cruiser which has sleeping compartments, a head, and galley.
check out boatrader.com or boats.com for your options in your price range.

I zapped myself back in time. In 1950, you could by one hell of a boat for $10,000.00 brand spanking new. Might give that era a try.
