I've been using nair and other such products to get rid of the hair on my top lip for about four years, surprisingly I don't have a huge mustasche or bumps but it still leaves my face feeling dry. So I'm ready to try lasering it away becuase I don't want to dry my skin out, I don't like waxing cause it causes black heads, so laser seems like my last option besides running around with a dark top lip(eww). The problem is I'm afraid my skin color might be a prob, im like a caramelish-tan, and I'm afriad of getting burnt or scarred.... anyone have any inputs, or should I just try it????

I've just started laser hair removal. It works best if you have light skin and dark thick hair. From what I've learned, you don't sound like a good candidate. On the other hand, you can get electrolysis. They insert a small electrically charged needle into the follicle to destroy it. Do a search for laser hair removal and electrolysis in your area. Most places offer a free consultation, take advantage of it. Once you get it done, you'll wonder why you waited so long. Good luck!

it can be tricky with darker skin. I did it about 10 times and it still didn't work. that doesn't mean it won't work for you. I did discolor my skin on my upper lip but it was actually darker from sun spots so it worked out perfect. For you, that might be different. the only way is for you to choose a dermatologist and have her do a small test on your arm or leg to see if it discolors your skin. Don't let her/him say "no it won't" without testing cause if you do, it might be too late. the test will be free so just run in and have them try it.

I also scarred because it burned a little part of my chin and i picked at it. My fault.

I guess the key is technique and also the type of hair. I'm not convinced it works......cause it didn't for me :( if you don't have really thick or coarse hair, it might work fine for you but you may have to go several times.

I would try it if I were you. You should be able to go in and have a consult with someone and get their professional opinion of what your results should be. I'm thinking of laser lightening for scars myself.
