no need to take a cutting, Aloe plants spilt easily at the root

Aloe is divided. Take a baby off of the mama plant, it should have roots on it already. Plant so the new plant is at the same level of dirt that the old one was, that is, do not plant it deeper or it will rot. Water when dry, should root well in a couple of weeks.

I dont think a cutting will do very well.. usually, an aloe will make new little aloes in the same container. You can pull the babies and replant them, thats what I do.

remove the leaf/stem let it dry out first then plant it in a sandy mix
