It was business adminstrative, I am still doing my manyy pre reqs for it and will just be starting some of my business courses this year. I am having second thoguhts on it as to what kind of job can I get with this degree? My other choice would be psychology. However, their is developmental and there is general. What kinds of jobs could I get with those degree? Please give info on what sort of places I could work at and how much longer it would take me for these degrees. Thanks!

Well it would depend on the college or university as to how much longer it would take to complete a degree in psychology but my best guess would be at least 2 years. Psychology is a wide open arena. There are lots of different types of jobs you can get in that field. From psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, health care professional to guru (lol). But most require further education than just your BA in psychology. You should at least plan on going on to graduate school and pursuing your masters. Now something you could consider if you are interested in helping people is Social Work. It is a more broad spectrum and the requirements are a little less for licensure. I am in my third year as a psych student and am looking in to switching to Social Work. Developmental psych would put more a basis on aging and the psychological effects of aging. That could mean working with kids or working with the elderly.

Hope this helps a little!

I have a BA in Psychology and I am attending law school and working at the same time. It's a busy schedule. A BA in Psychology will help you get an entry level job in many many diffferent business sectors such as non-profits and other local businesses. If you want to do anything with counseling etc you'll need at least a Master's degree so that you can get state certified. I would probably take general psychology if you plan on going ahead to grad school and specializing in something else. If you take developmental psychology as a major you can continue and get your master's in education and get your teaching certification. That would be a great route to go. Depending on how much of your general education courses are done (typically most students have them done in the first 2 years of college) you can start psychology courses right away. Most schools require at least 36 credits in your major. That's 12 3-credit courses. Depending on the course load you take you could probably get away with only attending an extra year or 1 semester. Good luck!

Psychology is one of those fairly intense majors. I imagine it would take a lot of time to get your prereq's for the upper division classes if you were business before, but that said I think it may be worth it. As a recent grad myself I know how valuable it is to choose a good major. As for a career, I don't have too much advise, but with both your business and psychology options you are probably looking at grad school before the best career options open up, more with psychology than with business. Good luck.

Go with what you find the most interesting! In the end, you will find a job after college regardless. Most people don't even end up working in something directly related to their major. I changed majors three times in college and still managed to finish on time. It's cliche, but "do what you love and the money will follow" is really true.

I can't answer your question but your college counselor can in great detail, and refer you to other authorities on the subject. Good luck.
