My desktop just shuts off in the middle of my work. It's a wonder how I got through this! How do I stop this? Thanks.

well, you either have a virus or some kind of spyware.....your power source could be going bad too.

My PC did almost the same thing, it kept rebooting and never fully booted. Got to the desktop and rebooted. Turned out the powere supply was fried.

Try using adaware or spybot to see if you have spyware and run scan disk if you can.

Try that and see if it helps

This same thing is happening to my other computer. It is currently being repaired. This could be caused by various things.

If you have a wireless Internet router, some customers of certain computer stores have had the same problem.

If you are getting Microsoft error messages after the computer restarts, saying something about "serious errors" or "device drivers" or "stop errors," then something to do with your video card could be broken.

The store I took my computer to eventually said that the motherboard was "bad." I do not know if they have fixed the problem yet.

Sudden restarts are usually either a heat or a power issue.
Check to make sure your CPU fan is working. If you have a lot of HW you might try unplugging some of it to see if that helps.

Could it be a virus or could it be overheating? I'd take it out to the shop if it was my computer.

It's got a virus. Go here and download AVG Antivirus (it's free). I use it all the time and I love it: http://www.free-download.cc/overture/avg/
