I am sorry that you're going through that. It typically happens right around that age. Girls and boys begin developing and as a result, hormones are surging. That's the #1 cause for acne. You can't do anything about hormones but you can ease the blow with a healthy diet. I know it's cliche BUT a healthy diet keeps so much in check in our bodies. A healthy diet is grossly underestimated. When I was 13, I knew nothing other than kit kats, ding dongs and lays potato chips. I had lovely mood swings to go with that!!!!

If you try and eat as healthy as possible, you wil totally aid your body in neutralizing anything that might be out of whack-including hormones.

Basically, you can wash your face 50 times a day with Lancome, neutrogena, almay, revlon or whatever BUT if you eat junk, the acne ain't going anywhere. So get the problem at its source.... the diet. Eat lots of fruit, veggies, yogurt, nuts, chicken, turkey, pork, baked potatoes, cheese, wheat bread, pasta, tofu (if you like it). Basically as natural as you can. You can go to a million websites for ideas- just google healthy foods.

For immediate results, just try using neutrogena but avoid heavy makeup. Go to a natural food store (whole foods if you have one close) and buy the make up powder they sell there. It's more expensive BUT it's made from minerals without all the additives that clog pores and keep the bacteria trapped in the skin. Also, exfoliate with a scrub at least 3 times a week. this unclogs the pores (wich are actually hair follicles).

Stick to the exfoliation and the healthy eating as much as you can. It's the two single most important things you can do.

Drink plenty of water. Also, try taking vitamins for the improvement of the skin. You may also want to look into Proactiv.
