Gary Davis was the first, self proclaimed citizen of the world. What happened to him?

The last time I heard anything about him was when he was living in Paris back in the 1950s 0r 60s. I believe he passed away some time ago, as he would be very old now, if he is still alive

I think he was asked to leave his planet of citizenship.
