You don't. The whole point of trust is that you can believe what they're saying is true, and that they have the best intentions. If you have evidence that they lied, it doesn't matter if they ultimately confessed or not. They lied, therefore you should not trust them.
However, it's possible that someone might change their ways. Here's the kicker: if they continue to lie even after you show you've got evidence of their lie, then they're never going to change their ways. Only contrite people change; this person is desperate, not contrite. If you can't confess your lie when confronted with evidence, then you've convinced yourself that the lie is true, and you're beyond saving (in my experience.)
