You earned $63,000 last year. One-third of it went to your ex-wife, whom you divorced when you discovered that she married you for your money. The rest appreciated by one-half when you sold your Porsche to make ends meet. Then you lent your new girlfriend two-thirds of that. Of the remaining amount, the government took an additional two-thirds. Have you any money and/or sanity left? How much? (Money that is. You obviously didn't start with enough sanity.)

$63,000 - $21,000 to ex-wife = $42,000.

$42,000 * 150% from Porsche = $63,000

$63,000 * 1/3 left over from girlfriend loan = $21,000

$21,000 * 1/3 left over from gov't = $7,000 left.

63,000-1/3*63,000= 42,000
42,000/2= 21,000
21,000+42,000=63,000
63,000-(2/3)*63,000=21,000
21,000-(2/3)*21,000=7000
