The phrase "partisan politics" is often used to refer to occasions when different people or groups don't agree on something.

We will never have a time when everybody agrees on anthing. This is usually good. It would scare me if there weren't some dissenting voices.

So, I guess I believe that partisan politics is the best kind of politics and in fact the only kind of politics.

If you take partisan politics to refer only to when people act and vote against their own beliefs and conscience in order to go along with their party, I think this is not a big problem. People join the parties because they believe in the party ideology and philosophy. They vote and act the same way as most in their party because they mostly believe in mostly the same principles as most in their party.
