Probably the same thing that attracts conservatives to AK-47's and the smell of burnt sulfur. Some kind of genetic anomoly I'm sure.

The Birkenstocks are comfie and the patchouli is to cover up the unwashed smell. Birkenstocks are limited to liberals though, I have several pairs and I'm a republican.

Its not the birkenstocks or the patchouli its the lifestyle associated with it. Check out greenpeace.com and you'll see all the birkenstocks and patchouli you can handle.

Birkenstocks and patchouli tend to attract older lesbians. I know, they're some of my best friends.

Birkenstocks are comfortable. I'm not really attracted to patchouli, I can think of better scents and a lot of worse ones. Why does it matter to you, anyway?

Oh, for shame!!! I went to the University of Montana, a very liberal college. I was conservative when I started, a bit (alright, a lot) more liberal when I graduated. One thing, though, that I have always stayed true to is my dislike of patchouli. That sh!t stinks!!!

I'm not liberal and I love my patchouli incense.
How about not generalizing?
