Well ,what you need to do is empty the cage and wash it with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. or you can use bleach.either one.then spray some Zaps It on it . it is a disinfectant and deodorizer.put fresh pine shavings back in and make sure to clean the cage once a week.your may have to put the Zaps It on the cage every time you clean them.hope this helps

If the cage is outside take your water hose and spray out all the bedding and poop and any other debri. Then let the cage dry completely. That should take care of your bug problem. Be sure to clean the cage once or twice a month to keep the bugs away.

Your rabbits have fleas. Take them to a vet where they can be treated with a flea medicine safe for rabbits. Flea medication for dogs and cats is not safe for rabbits. If the fleas stay on the rabbits, the fleas can suck the rabbits blood untill the rabbits die. I also strongly suggest keeping your rabbits inside. Rabbits that live outside have much shorter lifespans than those living indoors. Visit the House Rabbit Society website and click on basic care for tips.

Besides buying a wire cage that has a slide out bottom tray that will allow you to clean the cage frequently, there is no alternative but weekly cleaning. It is best to put dry grass/hay over newspaper then grab the entire mess and put it in the garbage can.
Part of the responsibility of pet ownership is care for your animal. Feed, clean and love your pet and you both will be happy.

I've heard that cleaning the cage out entirely and wash it. Use hardwood shavings, like aspen, instead of softwoods and cedar.
Apparently, while bugs don't like something in cedar shavings, it may not be good for your pets.
