Come on, she listens to you, understands you and makes you feel good and a bit of you fancies her too.

Judging others by your own standards is never very clever. Assuming that because you know each other well and have a great friendship, doesn't mean that you can cross the line.

I can truthfully say, that despite having had many, many, female friends across my six decades, I've never fancied one of them 'that way'.

I can tell you something else, two of them fancied me, and one was foolish enough to tell me so as well!

I put her straight in no uncertain terms... me who seldom swore!

She: "What you you say if I told you I was in love with you... if I made a pass?"

Me: As a friend I like you very much and really don't want to lose that friendship, but if you really want to go through the ****ing window, go ahead and try!"

She didn't. And interestingly, it was she who never answered calls or visited again, after four good years of friendship!

I think, if you value friendship, for what it really is... don't even try it!

And while I'm on the subject... what is it about this generation that seems to think you cannot have a relationship with anyone without the s** word getting in the way. Ever heard of restraint?

We were given those feeling to procreate with, the bonus being that we do enjoy them. But any one with an ounce of common sense, or maturity will tell you, friendship, is not the place to put them!

The other friendship lasted and she eventually forgot she ever fancied me, and the subject never raised its head. Except, I started feeling comfortable with her again!

I did. My best friend has been so since we were 11, we are now 28 and I did have a thing for her for a while, she knows about it and feels flattered. I don't fancy her anymore though, she's like my sister and that would be too weird!

I thought you were talking TO women here, ahh well, my best friend is male and my boyfriend, so I've often thought of him in 'that way', but if my best friend was a girl, then that would just be icky.
