Yep. Hope you were truthful. If not it's consider lying or being evasive and you won't get the job.

Before checking, you will sign a waiver authorizing them to do so. This waiver should state what type of verification they are doing. It can include criminal and credit as well. Most reputable employers perform the checks, others won't but you will never know whether or not they do. What I can tell you is that if you are found to have knowingly falsified your application, it will be immediate grounds for disqualification and you could even be fined or imprisoned depending on the company/position you were going for. Do NOT lie under any circumstances.

When they do background checks:

1. criminal record (these records are public and pretty easy to get)
2. past employment (hard these days to get much more than dates of employment)
3. educational background (very easy to verify attendance/degree/GPA so don't LIE)
4. credit history (rare in most cases, but for some jobs e.g. banks, always checked.

Most of the time they don't do crap. It costs money to do these things. Go ahead and check the no block. They'll never know. The most anyone does now is a drug screen, which isn't all that reliable because many drugs are out of your system in 48-72 hours anyways, and if you're looking for a job, then you should know better anyways.

they can mean criminal and/or credit checks. You should ask each individual employer. Yes they do do them. But sometimes, just sometimes, they cut corners and pretend they are going to but they don't. Better to be safe and reply honestly.

Many of them do actually do it. Depending on the insdustry you're going into, not everyone does a crimial check, although majority of them do. Either way you're supposed to have a legit resume and references. They do this to ensure they're hiring the correct person and not some fraud.
