Start by sopping up the mess and get as much of the liquid out as possible, and dry it up the best you are able. Moisture will make the wood warp so get it up fast!

We always use lemon oil to clean ours. (Old English Brand)

You gently clean with the oil on a soft buffer cloth.
You can also use it on the ivories, as long as you use a clean dry buffer cloth to remove the oil.

If you got it on the strings, I don't know for sure. If it were me, I would just use the same oiled cloth. Don't use water on your piano or strings EVER. Moisture is a piano's enemy! You may even want to get a dessicant (silica gel) to put inside to remove excess moisture.

If it is on the pads, you'll need to call a piano tech and have them replaced.

A dry rag to sop it up. Then wash with a wet rag & dry immediately so no water spots form. Use a small amount of Ivory to get the stickiness out. Be sure to rinse off soap well. Use a vacuum attachment to get under strings if you need to! Good luck!

Well if it's Gatorade it shouldn't be too sticky. If it's well and truly inside and under the strings then you'll need to get a professional. Otherwise a mild furniture polish and a soft rag...

Too many moving parts, You're screwed. You are going to have to hire someone to completely disassemble the piano, and clean each seperate part before putting it back together. (my suggestion is sell it, tell buyers it needs tuning, and take the money and get another piano.) Next time forbid food and drink near the piano.

I personally would definately hire a professional. It would be well worth the money. Gatorade more than like will be too stickey to clean up real easily.

Honey, get it professionally cleaned, and for God's sake, don't use vinegar. Whoever said that is a few french fries short of a happy meal. Vinegar is acidic and will damage everything! Please don't try to clean it yourself, people think cleaning is easy, but not on a BabyGrand!!Luck!:)

Here is a pretty good URL with cleaning tips;

Don't know if you will find what you need but at least you will feel connected to other people who have similar problems.

And, who knows? One of their tips just might work!

Ouch...I would be worried about doing further damage. Maybe if you call a piano restoration place they'd be able to give you some tips?
