Getting rid of fat is based 100% on activity. You can tone your abs once you loose weight, but you have to get the weight off first.

1. Find something you love to do. Ride a bike - Dance - Walking and do it long enough every single day to break a sweat for at least 30 minutes.

2. Every night when you are watching t.v. do a "episode challenge". Tune into your favorite show and every time a commercial comes on, do sit ups until the commercials are over. On average you will end up doing 12 minutes of sit-ups per night and it's actually kind of fun.

You can do it !!

Situps don't burn fat in your stomach, spot-reduction of fat is a myth. When you burn fat, you lose fat proportionally to where it's most abundant (e.g.: if those twinkies go right to your hips, that's the first place you'd likely notice a reduction). However, situps (or any other abdominal excercise) may/will help strengthen the abdominal muscles however, which will give the fat something 'to hold onto' so to speak. It'll also make your stomach just a little bit bigger though, because of the increased muscle (although it's minute).

You've gotta do things that burn calories, and cut calories. Pop (or soda as you may call it) account for 20% of your total calories per day, and calories are energy, and unused energy is converted to fat, it's as simple as that.

I know it's not fun, but all out sprinting burns the most calories (and continues burning them well after you're done). Long-distance running burns while you run, but then it stops.

I'd recommend a combination of runs (very important) and lifting. Don't overwork the abs though, treat them just like you would any other muscle group. If you do situps for your abdominals, don't go for overall reps, just hold a light weight on your chest to make it more challenging. Overall, I hope this wasn't TOO wordy, but still marginally helpful. Take care, and good luck with that mid-section.

Sit ups
Curl ups
Crunches
Push ups(support with your stomach muscles)
Hold in up push up position using stomach muscles
Lie on back and hold legs 6 inches above floor as long as you can
Walk or run, and while you are doing that hold your stomach in
flex your stomach muscles a lot
Try to laugh really hard until it hurts at least once a day!

Good luck!

cardio will help burn off the fat--running, bicycling, etc. doing crunches and other ab-tonign excersizes will give you muscles that will continue to burn the fat off and give you a toned tummy.
