There will always be wars the way i see it. Trying to stop wars is like trying to stop the glacier ice caps from melting. We are all going to die and we cant stop it.

I don't think that there will be a third world war in the near future. The nations that fought against each other in the first two world wars are now allies, such as the member countries of the European Union. The former Soviet Union and its satellite countries are developing better relationships with the West. South America doesn't seem like a likely flashpoint for a world war, and most of Africa is too impoverished and disorganized to ever be able to undertake a massive war. Even the rising superpowers, China and India, seem unlikely candidates to try to flex their muscle because much of the economic growth that they are enjoying is the result of foreign investment; it would be economic suicide for them to start a war. The main ideological conflict on a global scale seems to be between Islamic extremists and the Western world, but Al-Qaeda and other terror groups, although organized enough to murder and spread fear, are not nations that can launch true wars. In addition, although the United Nations has its weaknesses, it seems to be a far more effective system for preventing global war than the weak League of Nations that failed to prevent World War II. This doesn't mean that there will be everlasting peace; small scale local wars among a very few nations will probably continue to occur, and who knows when Islamic extremists will finally disappear, but I don't think there will be a massive conflict on a global scale that would constitute a world war. I particularly don't think that we need to fear nuclear annhilation. The world found out during the Cold War that mutual fear between countries of each others' nuclear arsenals is enough to prevent nuclear war.

Not for awhile. They've done so much damage to the earth's atmosphere that there might not be a planet left to "rule" if they start throwing their nuclear bombs around. I think they just like to keep people afraid; if they don't have an enemy, they'll invent one. They being the present presidents and king, queens.
