Iraq vets face another battle -- homelessness
'This is not what I fought for'

Across America on any given evening, hundreds of veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan like Noel are homeless, according to government estimates.

HOW COME REPUGLISCUMS WON'T
HELP THE IRAQ VETERANS?

They are homeless? With their pensions, disability, social security, and public housing?

Exactly what do we have to do to prevent homelessness? Pick them up off of the street and force them to accept the handouts we already give them? How about put them in jail, or a rehab facility, so they can get off of the drugs and the booze?

Any major American company will hire a veteran, especially a disabled one. They have more free rides than anyone else on the planet. Much deserved free rides I might add, but they do exist, and if they don't take advantage of them, it's not our fault.

It's like the fools who want more money for public schools. Do you know how much we already spend on public education? In some areas, the amount of money spent per student is like $40,000! Figure in the teachers, nurses, custodians, assistant principals, secretaries, sports gear, stadiums, big fancy buildings, new textbooks, and the administrative salaries in excess of $100,000 a year...

Did you know that private schools make far less money than public schools per student? It's actually cheaper. But you didn't know that, because the government takes the money from you before it even becomes part of your paycheck, which they also tax.

NO MORE WELFARE!!!! We have far too many federal programs already. Stop stealing my money, I'm already dirt poor and I cannot afford it!

First of all, name-calling doesn't help matters. Second, I'm a vet - USMC 1963-1967, Vietnam, Chu Lai, 1965-66. Third, I'm a registered Democrat.
Republicans don't tend to favor many kinds of funding that Democrats are more likely to vote for: education, health, welfare, veterans, to name a few.
The reason: well, I believe it's because the Republican "philosophy" is that individuals should depend on their own resources, rather than look to the government for help.
Of course, this doesn't stop many Republicans from getting assistance from the government themselves. And it tends to ignore the fact that a good number of people simply don't have the resources or the ability to fully "help themselves."
But then, as I mentioned, I'm a registered Democrat.

If "Noel" just sreved a tour of duty in Iraq,What did the dumb@$$ do with his pay? The government supplies all they need while they are there.Approx. $2000 a month, plus combat pay, plus hazardous duty pay. If he came home broke he can only blame himself. If he's now out of the service, there's still G.I. benefits he is elligible for. With Military experience he could get a job in any law enforcement cattigory. He served and has my utmost respect for that, but I will not feel sorry for someone who expects to have a living handed to him,The Democrat's way/more hand outs.

There are plenty of jobs to be had. If you can't find one where you are, go where the jobs are. The Gulf coast is teaming with construction, demolition and clean up crews, all paying in excess of $9 / hour. If that's not enough, the oil field always needs hands. A roustabout, the lowest form of life on a drilling rig, starts out at $11 / hour with beau coup overtime.

I am a republican and I believe that they deserve to be helped without a doubt. I give to charities like Help Hospitalized Veterans but I know they need a lot more. We are all Americans when it comes to this issue so do we really need all the name calling when it accomplishes nothing? I served honorably in the military so they certainly have my support.

Neither the Democratic or Republican party politicians at the federal level really, on average, give a rat's patoot about anyone that isn't wealthy.

The reason that they keep claiming to care, is because the voting masses are dumb enough to believe them without checking the facts....so, the scumbags keep getting re-elected by the ignorant masses.

Time to start voting for someone else.

#1, your a libtard, you know nothing.
#2, I am a vet, any and all support is there if needed. These "street vets" (most of whom are phonies, I still see 30 year olds claiming to be viet vets) chose the lifestyle they live. Please do more research before you ask stupid questions.
