They start smoking because it is cool, older kids do it. It is a sign of rebellion and maturity to them. They are doing something they know their parents look down upon, but at the same time, their friends who seem more important think it is cool.
They get them from older kids, their parents, wherever. It is not an addiction, yet, so obviously it is just a means to an end that they don't understand.

When you are young you want to be an adult and do adult things and you choose stupid adult things because it shows that your an adult then you stand outside the shop asking someone to buy them for you or you pinch your parents or older brothers or sisters. Then because your bodys not fully formed and your taking all that carbon monoxide into your blood your growth is stunted you become addicted yourll find it harder to give up. Later on in life your lungs are full of tar your arms and legs loose circulation and drop off (im not joking) Or you have to go to the smoking cessation clinic to get an extra 10 years out of life. Thats if you CAN do it! Some people get so addicted they opt to die, and hopefully their kids will never smoke.

They get their cigarettes from older siblings, older "friends" and other people of age. The kids that do this have low self esteem and think they will look cool and all grown up smoking or that it will even help them stay thin. The sad truth is that they just end up addicted, smelly, wasting money and looking pathetic. They have chosen to let cigerettes and the cigerette companies make decisions about their health, money and life. Exercise, eat right, do well in school, respect yourself and others, and seek spiritual growth. Be your own person, not a slave to cigerettes. THAT is cool.

They start smoking at that age because they think it's cool and they are experimenting with something that they aren't allowed to do and it's suppose to make them look really cool. Most kids get them from parents who smoke, other friends that have them, and sometimes they don't get carded at stores.

He told me all his friends get them like that.

I started sneaking cig's younger than that, it was because my parents and all four grandparents smoked.
I stole them from each of them, and, 3 of them died from lung cancer, and my dad has emphysema,
I quit smoking at 21, and I hope my son, seeing all of the damage smoking has caused, doesn't start.

I started smoking because I was bored and my parents weren't paying enough attention to me, and when they did it was negative attention. I got them from kids at school. I quit after high school thoguh and have been very successful since.
