As long as it's not flashy, you'll be fine... it's more important to wear something respectful and subdued than just black.

Don't get stuck in cultural myth, any colours ok even red! there is so much cultural myth around this subject, do you think this person that died would like you to be unhappy? Go as you always were for them and let the others live in pretence. A marketing company sold there products to china in white box's, White in china is the colour of death! it's all based on superstition , religious dogma and cutural myth, so do yourself and everybody a favour and don't sell out for fear of loosing stinking agreement (of which your not going to do anything with anyway) Be who you always were and ever will ever be! If they want to sell out let them! Respect is a colour nowdays? Who told you that was "The truth".

if it's an almost black, dark chocolate color, then yes ... otherwise, you'll need something black or very close to black
the only reason is that black is the classic, respectful, mourning color and if you wear something that not many other people are wearing, you draw attention away from the deceased person and instead to yourself
-for funerals, you want to stay classic and be extremely respectul

Who knows? Think of it this way though...if that is all you have to wear whether it's a funeral or a wedding or a job interview hopefully people will not concern themselves with your possible ideas about fashion and would think not to say anything about you possibly not being appropriately dressed. Obviously you like it.

The funeral is paying the last respects to the deceased. I believe you can wear what you like, you should mourn but also celebrate their life as well.

NO. Black is still, and always will be the color for funerals. Black dress pants are ok, you don't have to spend big bucks on a suit.

Just please, be respectful.
