Yes it is possible as a matter of fact I'm time traveling into the future right now. If I decided I wanted to travel into the past I could do that I just can't travel back to this dimension's past. Since I can not travel back to my past because I have lived in this dimension all my life and the Universe abhors a paradox, I can not make contact with my future self. No passing lotery numbers.
Any government would try to hide such a secret in vain.

We are currently engaged in time travel.
When astronomers look at the night sky they are witnessing events that took place millions of light years away.
Look at any documentary film made years ago and you are literally seeing events that took place before you were born. You can witness that particular era but you cannot change the events.
Assuming time travel allowed the individual to appear in a past period then we should have had many recorded instances of visitors from the future.
Imagine the effect if you and current technology moved back to the 1800s. People living then would absolutely bewildered and terrified.
The effect would be so startling on the population of a past era they would certainly have left a record.
Imagine if you moved forward in time to 3000. What effect would that have on you.
These concepts of 'time travel' are pure fantasy.
To be in contact with YOUR future self you would be sifting through a pile of inanimate dust.

A great SF author from the '50s or '60s (or maybe the '70s, but time is an illusion, so who knows), solved this question completely. I only wish I could remember his name to give him credit for his flawless logic. Time travel *cannot* exist, because if it did exist, man would continually change the past, in the hopes of creating a better present, until he finally created a world. . . where time travel could *not* exist. Nevertheless, this same author went on to write some of the finest time travel fiction I've ever read (Heinlein? Niven? Someone in that era and stature -- anyone else remember? Senior moment!!)

I believe that time is fluid within the subconscious, and that the subconscious mind can peer into your mind's own memories from days which have not yet occurred.
It's difficult to explain, but I dreamed of a field trip my half brother and I took together 8 years before it happened, and 7 years before I knew he existed.
When we met up at the museum, we were living in different states, and neither of us knew the other was on a field trip.
I also remembered the layout of the (newly built museum) and had written down the dream when I was 10 because it was so vivid, and I remembered it for days which was strange.
I had also been adopted at 3 yrs old, and had never met the common biological parent I shared with my half brother before turning 17. I met him the same time and the field trip happened when I was 18.
I believe this is the explanation for Deja vu. You remember something that hasn't happened before, because you dreamed about it in the past.

Dont go there,if our future selves are guiding us then who guided them and the people before them and the people before them?Who guided adam and eve?Listen superman(which is an ironic name to the subject because in the movie he turns back time) there is no such thing as time travel and all that stuff if I am told I am going to die tomorrow unless I eat chicken, and due to fear I eat the chicken and I dont die...then what on earth did the person who read the future see?because my death failing to happen means they did not read the future at all because whatever they foresaw did not happen...Lets leave it there for now.

Well dejavou comes from somewhere.
maybe it's our future selves saying hey look i'm over here, u've done this before.
On a serious note though, the past is past and can't be changed, the only thing that could be manipulated is peoples memories of the past like in George Orwells 1984... So if we could time travel it would only be to the future, but what would be the point ?

For one thing, time is NOT a man made concept, only how we measure it.
Time travel with electrons being sent back and fourth through time has already been achieved (though only by a few Milli seconds) So it is theoretically possible to send text messages to the future and the past and have conversations with different times.
But sending a whole person through time may take so much energy that it would destroy the universe.

I don't believe that time travel is possible I believe this for several reasons. 1 einstein said that time travel was possible and that there are some facts that prove that time travel is possible but if thats so why is time narrow -stright head view? what I mean by this is why must time consist of a past present and future? Why must it be in that order alone. To answer that its still unsolved but the orgins of time say to exsit well befor the singularity point in which the universe was created. According to the "String Theory" But what does time consist of? In order to travel time we must look at time itself and why time is so important. Its not just for looking to see what time your faviorite TV show is but where does time come from and why is it in a specific order?

Of course it is, but only at the quantum level, where time doesn't exist. But before I explore time travel, I have to perfect my de-bigulator, a matter shrinking machine. unfortunately, the mere concept of a re-bigulator to grow me back to my rightfull size is such an incredibly ridiculous proposistion as to make me laugh out loud.

I read through "Kevin R" 's comment.i have to say the menipulation of space-time is not mentioned.I'm talking about worm holes which are proven to be.
It would be possable to go a few light years while traveling just a few million miles, changing the formula for speed and "going faster the light" going into the past.
Will Mr.Halking plese confirm this?
