I suggest asking Dan Brown that question.

BTW ... I read all his other books long before da vinci code ever came out, and he is a good author, and deserves the success.

On his website Dan Brown has said this book is not anti anything. He wanted people to think about it. The Jesus speculation in the book is not new, there are several theories out there with the same belief. Dan Brown was probably one of the first to use these theories in genre fiction. Many people wanted to believe this because who hasn't questioned our own beliefs from time to time and to take on the fundamental belief of a widespread religion at that. I think Dan Brown wanted people to get to talking about it, and I think he's quite pleased at the controversy he's started. When people get that rattled up when you say something like that in a book, the author is flattered. That means he did what he set out to do, tell the truth. The truth we can disagree is factual in here but it's the truth of the theories that have been circulating around that he wrote about. He wrote a speculative theory the way he could, in the most honest way he could, and for that he deserves ever cent he's getting and how much attention he's getting from The Da Vinci Code. He may feel a bit flattered but also a bit annoyed at all the emails slandering him from fanatics. As he states, this is a work of fiction, it's not real. It's what could be real but it's not real. And I'm sure he didn't want to be sure from those authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail because he wrote his own story, not there's his. It upset him. But, I'm sure he's pleased at all the talk he got started.

I think its fiction, the world should get over it. He is an author, his books are on the best seller list and he's making money. He is probably happy.
