If you don't want to breastfeed, you'd better talk to your doctor and get some dry-up-pills. When you stop feeding it will HURT! The dry-up-pills make it happen a little faster, but still don't take the pain away. Good luck!

Actually the doctors will tell you not to pump because that tells your brain to produce more milk. To stop the production you are supposed to wear tight fitting sports bras and I would wear nursing pads to collect the milk so you don't leak through your clothing. I am breastfeeding now that my child has been born but I did not have my milk come in while I was still pregnant. You can always call your OBGYN and ask their opinion.

well I think you can get a shot to dry it up..not sure how safe never tried it..but I have had 2 kids and the milk will come in in 2 days after birth and make your breasts big (that parts cool) but it hurts, and then it will go away in a few days if you do not use it...if you pump it will keep coming back..so don't do that if u r not breastfeeding

Well if u r leaking milk u can wear those bra pads to protect ur clothes because breast milk stains. You don't need to pump it out at this point wait till u have the baby when u r actually breastfeeding.

Wear a snug bra after giving birth. Ask your doctor about hormones or herbs to dry up your milk. If you don't breastfeed or pump, the milk production will stop and dry up.
Milk is produced by supply and demand. If you pump (demand) you will produce more.

"...what the factories make doesn't quite measure up to what mom makes. It is nearly impossible for artificial baby milk manufacturers to make a milk with nutrients even close to what mothers' bodies can make. And these companies' primary goal is to make a profit, so marketing and manufacturing issues influence what finally gets into the can.
One of our concerns is that even though formula-fed infants appear to grow normally, are they really thriving? Thriving means more than just getting bigger. It means developing to the child's fullest physical, emotional, and intellectual potential. We just don't know about all the long-term effects of tampering with Mother Nature – though we do know that there are significant health differences between formula-fed and breastfed infants. Human milk is a live substance containing live white blood cells and immune-fighting substances, and is a dynamic, changing nutritional source, which daily (sometimes hourly) adjusts to meet the individual needs of a growing baby. Formulas are nothing more than a collection of dead nutrients. They do not contain living white cells, digestive enzymes, or immune factors. In terms of human history, FORMULA IS a NEW experiment. "

Freeze it and save it for when you might need it, or when your child needs it. Stick with it for your baby it's the best thing(as long as your diet is healthy) And simply milk is milk- better it be from you than a cow you don't know- ENJOY IT !!! And never take pills from a quack to acchive what you can do just fine on your own, and any (pain) you may have will be easly overlooked when you see your healthy child smile at you!!!!

If you are not choosing to breastfeed your child then you simply endure the pain of engorged breasts - do NOT pump - because it will send the false signal to the breasts that more milk is needed! I would encourage you, however, to breastfeed your child - because at 3 a.m. you'll have nothing to mix and heat while your baby is screaming for food! And it is SO much cheaper and healthier for your child too!

If you plan to use formula you don't have to do anything. Your breastmilk will "dry up" if you don't use it. Make sure you wear breastpads and a snug bra because until it does dry up, you will leak. If you don't want to breastfeed, but you want to feed breastmilk, you can pump the milk into bottles and freeze.

You don't need to pump it out unless youre going to use it. It is MUCH healthier for your baby if yu do!!! But if youre going to stick a bottle in the baby's mouth then your milk will dry up on it's own. Good luck and congratulations.
