How good is Big Phil Scolari in reality? A lot is made of his run of wins in the World Cup......winning with Brazil was great. But having a squad of players like he did, and the opposition they played it was not that hard. Then Portugal play Iran/Mexico/Angola - not the best. Then a scrappy affair with Holland spoiled by the ref. Cant beat 10 man England and they never looked like winning, devoid of ideas tonight. Is he really great? Is it good he didnt get the England job?

Big Phil really is a great manager his record speaks for itself.

1 World cup winners
1European championship runners up
1 World cup semi finalists
17 game undefeated international record(until tonight)

This world cup Portugal played some tough oppostion.

Iran. = Improving vastly.
Mexico. = Well established footballing nation.
Holland. = Potential winners.
England. = Potential winners.

You say cant beat England???? They DID beat England.

As for tonight.. He was devoid of ideas but everyone has a bad day. Also the players on the park were devoid of ideas as there best simply wasnt good enough.

Is it good he didnt get the England job????.

Yes i think it is good that Scolari didnt get the job because foreighn managers cannot instill the sence of pride that a English man can. Also foreighn men bring with them a differant style of play that English footballers cannot play and never will be able to.

So the answer to your question is = YES Luiz Fellipe Scolari is a great manager.

Well I always thought he was great! I liked the fact that he said no to England pre World Cup BUT now I see him in a different light. Maybe most of his success was down to an already great team with Brazil. And I really didn't like his antics tonight. Like a spoilt school boy who just can't lose. I think to be truely great you have to be truly great at losing too. The best manager for me at the moment is Klinsmann. Regardless how he personally must have felt last night he went and looked after his players and applauded the Italians. No sour grapes, no blaming the Ref. Just brilliant and caring, but also passionate and enthusiastic!!!!

HE IS 11-1-1 IN World Cup play...he is fine...Remember that he was down 2 men against England as well playing without Costinha or Deco and Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo had thigh issues...so for them to win however..is fine...

Rooney was a JERK for kicking Ronaldo and if you are going to say Brasil's win against Germany was crap..I gotta say BS on that...Brasil may be in weak groups..but remember that they were seeded #1 or #2 and so they ARE entitled to play easier groups then say...the USA, or Mexico who will always be in tough groups..

I think he makes the best of what he has available. He also seems to a very good man manager and is hugely respected by the players but he doesn't strike me as a great tactician in the Marcel Lippi mold.

well look at the wonders hes done for portugal. he got us to a final in the euros and now semi at the world cup. in portugals history of football, that is great. it just wasent our day today. we were better than the french but henry dived and unlike our diving, his was done expertly. he tricked the ref and that is the only reason we lost.

After seeing his rubbish substitutions (taking all his strikers off against England?), and seeing his mardy antics at the final whistle today, I'm very glad he's not our next manager!

I really thought he was great but now that I see how you broke down his victories, my opnion has changed. But I will give him credit to the energy he brought to the team though. He is on fire!

He so totally lost it after the match, didn't he? After all, he is Portugese speaking man, isn't he? Unreasonable and unrational.
