AMG can either mean a car that has AMG parts, a car that was produced by Mercedes-AMG GmbH, or that the owner of the Merc wishes to associate their car with Mercedes-AMG.

As answered previously, Mercedes-AMG is the performance arm of Mercedes-Benz located in Affalterbach, Germany. They produce, amongst other things:
- Performance versions of Mercedes line series vehicles
- After-Purchase customizations for AMG customers
- Safety cars for both Forumula 1 and DTM race series
- Engines for the McLaren-Mercedes SLR, CLK-DTM Street Car, and Pagani Zonda
-Are the sole Marketing agent for the CLK-DTM Street Car and in the past the CLK-GTR (which are produced by HWA GmbH, an independent company headed by the "A" in AMG)
