He is 22 and got a DUI at age 18.So this is his second offence. He doesn't know what to do because he enrolled in the community college around here and can't do manditory jail time in the other county without withdrawling from school which he just got financial aid for. Are there other options? He contacted the court and they put a warrant out for not showing up to the court date (because he has no license and needed a ride and also had class). They said he can submit the judge a letter for another court date, but he's going to school and fall and doesn't want to go to jail when he got school paid for. I dont know what to tell him (other than he was stupid to be drinking and driving)...do you? Are there other options than jail time?

Welll-you drink, you drive, you lose! It's obvious he only got his wrists slapped the first time. This may be the only way your friend will learn - the hard way. He apparently did not put much thought into his actions before he drank and now it's time to pay the price. He can hire a lawyer - but expensive. The fines involved, lost license, AA that will be mandatory, classes he will have to pay for and attend, travel time, and lost financial aid, higher insurance premiums, plus other things people in his shoes don't know about. His best bet is to be a man, and pay the consequences and learn from it. He's just lucky he didn't kill someone.

Tell your freind to explain to the judge and if the judge is lienate then he probably would stil have to do commity service but if he is a hard *** then he well do jail time sry to say the only way the judge would understand why he did not show up to court only if he was going to AA meetings and proof somewhere around the county where u live.

He is getting in deeper and deeper the more he doesn't respond. You say it's because he is in school. But he's making it worse and worse by choosing school. Lots of people have to drop out of school to go to jail. It's only one semester. He needs to start complying with the courts or his trouble is getting worse and worse. School is no excuse to ignore the law.

Your friend will absolutely love going to jail. It's a great education and he will have memories for the rest of his life. Unless they kill him.

Unfortunately, depending on the judge, based on his circumstances they probably won't give him jail time. That being said, I hope they lock the stupid bastard up.

he should have thought about all this while he was driving drunk. I have no pity. Do the crime, pay the time
