I love Cristiano Ronaldo. And I know he plays on Machester United but why didn't he play on England's team? Is he originally from Portugal? Or was he not asked? (If he wasn't that's CRAZY!)

A player signs contracts with different clubs to play during his career. Depending on the contract duration, pay, the status, etc. players choose which team they sign with. In this case, Ronaldo plays for M.United. Thats why clubs have people from all nationalities playing together......BUT when playing in the "national team", the player MUST be the nationality of that country. National teams DON"T allow foreigners to play, its (i guess) a national/patriotic thing. (After what happened with Rooney, and the fans soooo mad... Ronaldo might have to say bye bye to M. United.....)

England hates Ronaldo and plus hes not even from UK, Becks plays for Real and is on England because hes from there.

Ronaldo is Portuguese.
Only nationals can play for their country. This is like asking why doesn't Ian Thorpe swim for the U.S.
