A big con I'd say.
They are designed to give you a near miss (heart stopper) each time so that you actually believe you came close to winning.

Very few people win big. If everyone won big, what would be the value in selling them in the first place? It's just like Vegas--the game always favors the house, or the game is dropped.

Yes, people DO win on those. The odds aren't very good, but it does happen. I was sitting next to a girl in a Waffle House in Newnan, Georgia when she won $1 million on a scratch off.

In most instances, no. Yes, people do win occasionally. My grandpa used to play them and he'd sometimes win hundreds of dollars. He never won the big money reward, but they have to do it occasionally or they would be investigated by the government for fraud and false advertising.

I WON 100 PDS WHEN THAT WAS TOP PRIZE (FOR 10P) Then won a grand when 50p and 2 grand @ a pound a card all 3 on a football club card

Yes they do, a workmate of my ex's won £100,000 on a scratchcard.
He was a muslim and so had a dilemma cos he should not have been gambling in the first place. He said he would give all the money to a charity because of this.

The small wins encourage you to go buy another card. Yes there was a big winner near us. But never me. only small wins.
My motto......... Only sctratch it if it itches......... but i still keep trying

I won £35 pounds once about 4 years ago but since then ziltch.....but i know someone who won £2,000 a year ago on them.

dont know but my hubby usually wins when we're skint...so i'm not complaining....think its a 2 in 7 chance of winning or something like that
