They're stupid cartoon characters. Kind of like Bert & Ernie. Sure, somewhere along the line people analyzed Sesame St and decided that they had homo ways.
But again, they're just stupid cartoon characters. Of what little I have watched in the show, they portray to me as two complete immature idiots.
My kids don't watch the show anymore.

No, that isn't authentic or humorous. it is a conventional question. not very unique. edit : the tale you advised isn't authentic although. they don't seem to be gay. that's fullyyt a rumor people created like the Bert and Ernie element. i dont think theyre gay. i mean the "baby" was a clam in which they found somewhere in Bikini Bottom. Maybe if they really had a baby i would say they were gay. Other than that i think they're just friends!!!

You are just reading too much into the fact that they always hang out together and don't have girlfriends. It is not common for children's cartoon characters to have romantic relationships at all. Also, sponges and starfish are primarily asexual organisms.
