Because we men are different, your perception of jerk is subjective, whats bad for you is not necessarily bad for others.
I have known women who are bitches!
I have also known women who are treasures.
Remember, it is always your call, you do not have to go out with jerks, but perhaps you are attracting jerks, think about it and take a look at yourself first.

Honestly, there are some chicks (even your friends or you) that can be jerks too. So there can never be an answer to this. You might as well ask : why are some girls so demanding? or some men submissive?

Guess its Nature.... Sometimes we are kids, at times it seems like we are pigs and rest of the time we are dogs. So u eitehr get along with us or forget it. Meanwhile if u know how u treat a Dog then go along and handle us that way. please Forget all this talk about respect and so on. Its a Ruse!!! we have wants and do anything that gets us to that Point..... Ever heard od Ulterior Motives?? In this Aspect its all about Sex.......

Along with what everyone has said...men can also be jerks because they weren't taught properly by their dads. For instance, my dad lost his pa at 8 yrs old (sad I know). And now...BIG surprise...my mom and dad are separated. -_-. He is a good father though. Just my mom and him didn't get along. It's strange...but now that they are separated, they seem to flirt a lot. O.o.
