It may be a fungal infection. That's often the case when it won't clear up. In this case, you would need an antifungal cream to use on it. Talk to your pediatrician, and if she/he doesn't take you seriously, then talk to another doctor.

If it's bleeding, your baby's got a 2nd degree burn.

1. DON"T use baby wipes. The perfume in them will make the rash worse!! Use paper towels soaked in water. I like Bounty. The cheaper kinds & store brands crumble under water.

2. Use Triple Paste. It can normally be found in your pharmacy. Walgreens has it for sure. This stuff works great, apply every time. My doctor recommended this to me when the burn cream didn't work either, and it worked like a charm within a very short period of time.

3. I always gave my baby a lukewarm bath, to help clean out the bacteria. Don't use bubble bath. Johnson & Johnson's works ok, but I usually just gave them a water bath. Then, dry off really well.

In the future, when it's hot - use baby powder and make sure that you change diapers right away. Even a little bit wet can cause a rash. I like Johnson & Johnson medicated baby powder.

What all diaper rash creams have you tried? Go to your pharmacist and ask for Calmoseptine. It's over-the-counter, but they keep it behind the pharmacy counter for some reason. It's about $5.50 in my area (Atlanta) and it's the miracule cure!

If your son's diaper rash is very sore and open and sort of oozy, put a little Neosporin on the really bad places. Should take care of it in a day or two.

And remember...DON'T use babywipes if your son has a really bad case of diaper rash...even the unscented/free/gentle ones sting.

my son is six months old and when he was a newborn he had a very bad rash. I tried everything and nothing worked. I took him to the doctor and here it was a yeast infection and he need a prescription cream and the rash was gone in a day. And leaving him out of his diaper during the day to get some air also helps alot. Good luck to him. No one likes a sore hiney

take the diaper off of him and put out to air dry. He could be allergic to the diapers your using. or he could have yeast instead of a regular diaper rash. If you cannot clear it up, you should probably get some lotromin cream and smear it all over his rear end and see if that helps. It is the same cream used for athletes foot.
It happened to my son when he was a baby.

Lotrimin is really for athletes foot but my doctor said you can use it for diaper rash. Make sure the area is clean before you put it on and try to get some air to the area. I used to let my baby nap with no diaper and lay on a couple cloth ones. The rash is gone in no time.

Let his bottom air out as much as possible. When you change him let him lay there and keep him occupied with a toy or making funny noises and just cover up his little parts with a diaper just in case he goes again...letting him dry off and have clean skin will help a lot. My son started tyring to get a rash a few times and this always worked for me. It heeled up in less than a day, and I've always let him have air out time when changing his diapers. He likes it too. He peed on me a few times, but hey, clothes are washable! Just think of what it would be like for you if youi had on a diaper and wet it often and it layed against your skin for long periods of time, what do you think it would do? It would feel nice to not wear anything for awhile and let you skin feel aired out...

AIR IT OUT!!! LOL no really. With both of my boys I never had a diappy rash prob because I give them lots of diappy free time. My little baby will start to get it every once and a while I let him go a bit without a diaper and it's gone.

Not sure if he is walking..if so then be sure to watch him in case you have to clean up a mess. But a little pee on the floor is better than his poor hiney being raw. If he is not moving yet...tummy time!! That way the little weany is pointing down and he just wets the blanket or whatever you lay him on.

All I can tell you is that Aveeno diaper rash cream works really good on my baby. They also have lotion and bars of soap you can wash his little bottom with. The products are made of wheat.

for diaper rash i would use a strong thick grease like Vaseline of ad ointment, because the grease is so thick it takes longer to rub off and when apply afters ever diaper change can be very affective just keep his bottom greases and clean

when my daughter had bad nappy rash to the point where it had blistered and was bleeding a midwife recommended a cream called mitaneum, and it worked over two days. It is very thick like mustard but it made her better and i swear by it now.

I bought this from Tesco - but you can buy it from pharmacies.
