Who in your opinion is the best French player ever - Platini or Zidane? Or maybe you prefer Henry, Kopa, Giresse, Cantona.....

So far Zidane is winning, wonder how old the voters are? Platini scored 9 in 5 games to win France the 1984 European Championships, and did not play for such a good team as the 98/00 era. he did get 42 goals I think - a lot from midfield. Just to jog memories. oh and 3 times in a row the European player of the year.

Well, the majority outside of France would say Zidane. But a recent poll in France put Platini ahead of Zidane.... Now help me out here but didn't Zidane help the French squad in winning both the World Cup in 1998 and then the European Championship?

Platini. Zidane is an idiot who rewards the Italian team by giving them the World Cup because they can taunt him enough to mess w/ his head. Platini was a better passer but Zidane was a better finisher. I'd rather have the better passer. Zidane was an excellent passer but I think Platini was better. Also, how many people voting Zidane even saw Platini play?? Of course all younger people will pick Zidane because they saw Zidane in his peak & missed Platini or caught Platini @ the end of this career.

Platini certainly scored a lot of goals, but I think Zidane. By the end of the weekend he might have inspired the France national team to 3 trophies, two of which were on foreign soil. Compare that to Platini's one...with home advantage in a tournament lacking England, Germany, Italy and Holland.
Cantona? Overrated quite a bit. He may have been awesome for Man Utd and Leeds Utd at Premiership level, but he did nothing in the UEFA Cup or Champion's League (not once). Nor did he achieve anything with the national team.
