Can you be successful in a class called fundamentals of organic and biochem if you never had chemistry?

Its the pre-req for my nursing program and my advisor took me out of general chem because she thought it would be too hard, and is more for chem majors. Fundamentals of organic and biochem is more of a survey of the two. So do you think I will be able to be successful if I study or will it be over my head? I have never had chem but I have used some in my anatomy classes and I was always successful in it.

Take it a step at a time, and you'll be fine. Basically, chemistry can seem kind of confusing...I took college level chem at age 15, in high school, and it was the first time I ever took chemistry. If I could have come out of that with an A, so you can as well. The first month, my grade was a D, and I was loathing it, then, like a sonic boom, something snapped inside my head, and it all became so simple. I had a very difficult time understanding valences and what not, but by the time we go to Organic Chemistry, it was a breeze. A lot of chemistry is basic math, and if you're a logical person it should not be difficult. I personally love orgo and biochem...and all chem. I hope you will too. Also, doing experiments and messing about with chemicals and beakers while wearing a lab coat makes you feel like some sort of evil genius. It's fun.

Also, the class is called FUNDAMENTALS for a reason. Don't sweat it!

Almost everyone takes general chemistry first.

Anyway, I thought that both general AND organic chemistry were requirements for both pre-med and for nursing. Unless your organic course also teaches chemistry fundamentals, then I'd take general chemistry first.

And I passed general chemistry but found that organic was WAY harder (there's a lot of rote memorization of chemical reactions in organic.)

even as i become in college I had this math classification at like 7:00 AM and that i worked till useless night. I many times slept late and neglected my math classification. That become the firstclass I ever flunked out of. yet I were given my attractiveness sleep and that is all that concerns. It become truly in simple terms not something more advantageous than a extreme college algebra classification so i did not take it heavily. yet Yeah- skipping a classification is a procedures off the cool meter. you're so Cool that the cool meter can't degree your coolness.

You need the basics first. Take the chemistry class, as it will be a pre-requisite most likely, or very helpful in, understanding pharmacology. Chemistry is not that hard.
