Yes I much preferred the episodic suspense format. But its a more modern format. For every 1 episode of the new series we have 2 of the old series. The episodic format was largely not seen by international viewers, as companys bought entire stories as opposed to episodes.

Still 2 episodes of the new series are 90 minutes of film approx. Season 2 is great, I can really see the more the writers/directors etc do the WHo show the bteer it gets . Besides the odd hiccup in quality WHo gets better and better with every episode imo. Its the big finale of season 2 tomorrow....I can't wait

Oh and I agree Rose tyler is annoying after a while...lol

I think it's great that Doctor Who is an active series again, although I'm "on the wrong side of the Pond" right now to see any of the Tennant episodes yet.
Personally, I think Sylvester McCoy got a raw deal having so few episodes, especially considering that they were starting to hint that there was a lot more to the Doctor's past than we originally suspected. Yet at least he had more than Paul McGann!
Meanwhile, the 50th anniversary of the series will be in 2013. Despite the fact that so few of the original cast will be available to reprise their roles, I would love to see something along the lines of "The (However Many There Are By Then) Doctors" to celebrate this milestone.

In the USA, we just finished up season one of the new series and the change is what makes it work. We love Tom Baker because we have someone to compare him to. It's also why the series has lasted as long. I am looking forward to the next season.

By the way, I think there has to be a limit on length of time they can bring back a former companion, or at least get a different actor to play them, unless it's K9. It only hurts the legacy.

Haven't seen the second season in Canada yet, but I enjoyed the first season. It was a shame that most stories were contained in one or two episodes, compared to four in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Special effects though have moved on significantly.

I'm not sure I quite approve of David Tennant as the Doctor; my favorite is still Jon Pertwee. I am getting sick of Rose Tyler, but I wonder who the new companion will turn out to be. Over all, I am enjoying the new Who. I've been a fan for years.

The David Tennant episodes are out there online.
