The dark doesn't go anywhere, it is simply a lack of light just as the colour black is a lack of colour. If you turned the light on slowly via a dimmer switch , you would find the dark fades on a gradual basis as the light gets stronger. So it doesn't really go anywhere, it is simply replaced. Or on a more scientific note. the dark is replaced by energy in the form of light. Without energy, there would be no light and that obviously includes the sun. So the dark is always there, lying dormant in the background waiting for the energy to fade.

The dark just gets covered in a blanket of light. If you stare at the air in a room at night that's lit with artificial light, you may be able to make out tiny specs - billions of them, that is the dark hidden behind the blanket of light that's covering it, still showing through, but in minute proportions all over the room, trying to find a way to take back what it's lost. But light being greater than dark, when the light is artificial, forceful and constant like the sun, it will always be boss, and a powerful blanket over darkness.

darkness doesn't exist, it's just a concept used to describe what happens in an absence of light. you don't get rid of the dark when you turn on the light, you just create light.

white light is separated into all the colors of the spectrum of visible light. say you shine a white light on a red object, it reflects the red light and absorbs the rest. just a little tidbit of information you might have found usefull to the answering of your question

Darkness is simply the absence of light. So, when light is no longer absent, darkness ceases to exist.

The dark's still there.
It's just that the light from the light (that's turned on) is reflected into your eyes and so you see the colour.

Otherwise... it's still dark...

That's simple. It never existed. It was light to begin with. You just couldn't tell until you turned the light on and could see it better.

That, or it simply hides.

Darkness is defined as lack of visible light (photons of visible light),
your eyes can only feel photons of visible light.....
there could be all other types of photons (ultraviolet; infrared; microwave; radio waves; etc.) those are all considered light, But invisible light....,
so, when visible light is absent; you only see it dark
but other creatures whose eyes are responsive to other types of light (other than visible) it is not dark to them...
