It seems that American people dont know how to dress.

Any suggestions why?

I used to live in switzerland and france and i was clearly able to see that the people over there were always dressed very nicely.

than i came to the united states and realized how sloppy the people over here walk around.

And why are so many Americans fake?

2006-07-05 10:59:19 · update #3

I just dont understand how Americans try to pretend to be polite but in reality they are selfish and ignore a lot.

And the American food really sucks compared to the European food

I think the better question would be "Why do foreigners like to criticize and stereotype Americans?" Not ALL Americans are unclassy. It's just like a lot of other people have said...there are a lot of unclassy people overseas, too. I've been trying to figure out why it is that so many foreigners find it trendy to talk trash about Americans. The only logical answer that I can come up with is that they're trying to fill some void. Perhaps they long for the time when their country was considered a superpower...but I guess the world will never know.

Also, isn't it funny that foreigners like to talk a lot of trash until they need some funding or support. Do you realize how many countries we offer aid to? Nobody seems to remember things like these...Do yourself a favor and spend some more time practicing your grammar and spelling before you start spewing your unintelligent remarks.

Its not right to generalize people based on their country of origin. Its a shame that I see it alot here. I am a Canadian that has lived in Europe for the past 12 years and I can honestly say that there are many classless people in Netherlands as well as people with class. Either you have it or you don´t. And those that have it pass that on to their offspring. I have been blessed with a very classy Mom and Dad. Class is a human trait not a demographic issue. And it has a lot to do with pride and self respect. More and more people are becoming lazy and have lost the sense of pride in their appearance. What a shame.

I'm curious about your last comment that you added because Australia is nowhere near Europe...anyway, I would think that there are a whole lot of unclassy people anywhere you go...but you shouldn't make an assumption about an entire nation of people based on just a few. Class, per se, is something that I don't think we put much stock into in this country. People are just people, wherever, and most of us are just trying to do our best in life, so if you don't like us then go home.

britaingrl14: Didn't you go to school? America is the most powerful country right now cause Europeans and people for all around the world moved to the States! If you wonder why they did, then you'd check your country's history!!

People, you watch too much TV. If you read the right books and use your brain you'll then get the answer of what US gains patrolling the world, offering aid, helping other countries etc!

I believe that there is a severe lack of culture in the US. Very few young people are interested in going to museums or seeing a play, so they have very little exposure to things that are considered classy, which sticks with them for the rest of their lives.

The US is also a very casual country. Where I live, it is not uncommon to see a mother dropping off her children at school wearing a robe and curlers in her hair. Although I believe that people should always try to look their best, I still admit to going out while looking a mess. Just the other day I went to my driving lesson in a dirty hoodie, flannel pj bottoms and with dirty hair, just because I knew I could get away with it.

I don't condone it but it's just the way things are.

Wow, you really hate us don't you! I'll admit, I prefer comfort to style. I don't know if other Americans are like that or not. But, I am not hung up on CLASS, maybe that's cause I'm American. But I appreciate the Europeans sense of class. I'm sorry you think we're fake, I always try to be honest and forthright. I really enjoy people of other cultures. I like knowing what they think, and what they like and what they think is important and about their traditions etc. But it also bothers me when someone just can't accept me the way I am.

I'm sure that there are some Americans that have no class, just as there are Europeans that also have none. Perhaps it is not fair to judge all by a few that you may have met? Personally, I tend to take each person as they are, and not make blanket generalizations. Perhaps it is a policy that you could look into?

Baby, we have much more! If you have soooo many complaints and issues w/ Americans why are you here? Take or keep your (can't say what I really want to) behind in Europe!

And the answer to your question....we have the freedom to pick and choose what we want to do, wear, act, go! WE'RE FREE TO MAKE A CHOICE!!!!! By the way learn how to spell and write correct sentences, idiot!

Some Americans have MORE class than Europeans, and vice versa. However, most Americans have a better use of grammar than you have shown.
